Parent coordination/ parent facilitation: often courts or other legal professionals recognize when high conflict between parents has detrimental effects on the children involved. Parent coordination/ parent facilitation is an alternative dispute resolution process that allows a trained mental health professional to facilitate conflictual parents/ guardians in implementing their parenting plan.

Extended Therapeutic Assessments: occasionally, law enforcement and/ or the court system is unable to determine whether child abuse has occurred. An extended therapeutic assessment may assist in providing clarification in these cases of uncertainty, by involving a trained mental health professional who can focus on the developmentally appropriate needs of the child involved.
